Interactive Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life exercise is a simple and easy way to get a snapshot of your life as you see it today. Think about each section of the wheel as it relates to your life. How satisfied are you with that section right now?

Define your Life Areas (what’s important to YOU)

Start by brainstorming four to eight dimensions of your life that are important TO YOU. Take your time to decide your life areas and to DEFINE what each of these areas mean to YOU. I consider this the most valuable part of this activity. We often put a lot of weight on societal expectations and what others around us value in life. But when we take the time to decide what’s important to us and define what that means it gives us a clearer picture of how our life is right now and a measure on how to proceed and what needs to change.

Some approaches to deciding the Life Areas:

  • Areas of life that are important to you, for example: artistic expression, career, education, family, friends, sensory needs, eating habits, financial stability, physical activity, pleasure, communication, etc..

  • The roles you play in life, for example: partner, parent, colleague, team member, community leader, or friend.

How to use the interactive wheel of life

  • Select how many life areas you want to consider (from 4-8).

  • Choose each life area from a drop-down menu or type-in your own.

  • Below each text box with the life area, click on Description (show) to write how you would define that life area.

  • Assuming the center of the wheel is zero or not satisfied, and the outside is 10 or excellent. Rate your level of satisfaction in each life by dragging the points on the wheel.

  • Once you are done, you can click on Print/Save to print or save it as pdf.
